Effective 7-4-26, the USFS has closed the Rain Creek Trailhead, and that may include Sacaton Airstrip. If winds develop due to thunderstorms over the Sacaton fire, the fire could easily spread to the southwest. The TFR in place is likely to expand soon and cover Sacaton Airstrip.

The Gila NF will implement stage 1 fire restrictions on March 23, 2026.
With the exception of the Negrito Camping Area, only propane devices may be used at the backcountry airstrips.
